6 Reasons You Will Fail At Internet Marketing

Why do
so many people start an Internet Marketing business when the odds of
failure are so high? There is a lot of money to be made on the
Internet, but you have to be ready to do what it takes to be successful
in this business. Many people who come into this business are not
ready, they are the ones who mostly fall victim to the 6 reasons I will
go over in this article

One of the main reasons most people fail at Internet Marketing is
because they have unrealistic expectations. They fall for all the HYPE.
They expect to get into this business, do very little work and make
tons of money. If only it were that easy!! Many have no idea what it
takes on a daily basis to build this business.

Another reason is that many people do not have the mental toughness it
takes to run this type of business. You have to be willing to do what
ever it takes to build this business. You basically have to retrain
yourself to have the will power to put all the extra hours in to make
this work. In the beginning is not unusual to work up to 16 to 18 hours
a day just to learn the business and try to make some money.

A lack of effort is another big reason most people fail. Along with not
having the mental toughness to do what ever it takes to build this
business, most people simply just lack the effort to want to build a
business. As mentioned above many join thinking they will make tons of
money with little or no effort on their part. This trait has no place
in this business or any other business for that matter. It really
doesn't work too well in the J.O.B. market either. (just over broke).

Not having a good sturdy business plan leaves you with a good plan to
fail. Your business plan is what keeps you going in the direction that
you need to be going. With out it, as far as I am concerned you will
just be spinning your wheels. Not really knowing in which direction you
are headed.

Inadequate funding will cause you to fail at this business. What I mean
by this is, if you go out and order or buy every program that you run
into you will spend a ton of money fast. I am not saying that you need
to have a lot of money to make money in this business. Quite frankly
there are many ways that you can market your business for free. So this
reason causing you to fail will depend on how good you are at handling
your money.

Now the biggest reason, In my opinion is the lack of commitment. First
and foremost you have to be committed to your desire to be in a better
position financially. This is why, by the way most of us got into this
business to begin with. To make more money.
Your commitment has to be at the level where you are willing to do what
ever it takes to build this business. It is a huge commitment but it
really is worth it when yo start to see the results of all your hard
work

As you can see it is not really difficult to turn these 6 reasons for
failure, into 6 reasons that will help you build a good profitable
business. Just remember it takes a big commitment and a lot of time
time and effort to build this great Internet Marketing business.

How To Gain Link Popularity Through Article Writing

So you
just completed your nice looking website and your ready to make some
money. There is only one problem. Nobody knows that your site exists.
There are many things that you can do to correct this. But I am going
to talk only about one of them. This is probably the most important
tool you have that will bring you quality traffic. What I will be going
over is How To Gain Link Popularity Through Article Writing.

First of all you will need to write a few good quality articles with
content that is relevant to your niche market. By writing various
articles on any subject you will begin to establish your self a an
expert on that subject. Writing just one article will not accomplish
this, you have to write articles on a consistent basis. This may seem
difficult at first, but the more articles you write the easier it gets
to write them.

Secondly you need to search for free content article directories to
submit your articles to. This is easily done. All you have to do is
Google article directories, and you will pull up a lot of directories.
Now all that is left is for you to submit your articles. Remember you
must always include your resource box at the end of every article that
you submit. Within this resource box you need to include a few eye
catching sentences, along with a hyperlink to your website. By doing
this your article will start to spread through out the Internet, also
building your link popularity.

Another way to gain link popularity is by creating your own article
directory and linking it to your website. By having your own directory
you will have a place to post your own articles, other than your main
site and blog. Also a directory creates back links from every persons
site that has posted an article. Another great benefit of having your
own directory is that other webmasters will now be going to your site
looking for fresh content for their sites. You can see how your traffic
will start to grow.

Submitting your articles to directories can bring you tons of traffic
and back links. But this will not get accomplished by submitting to
just a few. You need to submit to a lot of directories and this is very
time consuming. There are 3 ways you can accomplish this. One is to
submit everywhere manually, which will take up a lot of your time plus
its free. Another way is to join an article submission service. By
paying a submission service your articles will automatically be
submitted to virtually hundreds of directories and e-zines. There are
also free submission services. You should do some research on them
before using them, but they also do a great job of submitting your
articles.

As you can see gaining link popularity for your site is not that
difficult. It does take some time and effort in the beginning to get
every thing set up. But once you get going it really does get easier.
One thing to remember is that it does take a little bit of time before
you start to see the links grow. A really good way to look at this is
that you are planting the seeds that will grow to bring you profits. By
doing these steps you will see your business begin to steadily grow.

5 Ways To Promote Your Online Business For Free

As you
know the cost of promoting your business is just outrageous. This is
especially true if you are just starting out. You get into this
business to make money and right off the bat you are being asked to
spend hundreds of dollars to promote your site or business. And in
doing so there really is no guarantee that you will get visitors to
your site let alone customers that are ready to buy. Fortunately, I
will be going over 5 ways you can promote your online business, and the
best part is that all 5 ways are absolutely free, well almost they will
cost you some time.

One of the first ways you want to promote your business is to write and
submit a press release. There are many press release sites that you can
submit to for free. What you want to do is write a good informative
story about your business. It would also be a good Idea to include some
information about you and how you came about starting your business.
This is a great way to get some interest and exposure to your business.

Next would be using traffic exchanges. Traffic exchanges are good in
that they give your business exposure to others trying to promote their
own business. What you are basically doing in traffic exchanges is
surfing for traffic, at the same time there are hundreds of others that
are doing the same thing. The more you surf the more credit you get. As
your credits grow so does the amount of times your page is shown. This
is a good way to get traffic to your site and a great way to build your
list.

Online forums are also another great way to promote your business. In
forums you will find a wealth of information from members who have been
in business for a while. The forum community is a great place to share
ideas and get feedback on your own projects. As you grow in the forums
you will find that you start giving advice to newbies who ask
questions. This happens fairly quickly. One thing to remember about
forums is that they are not a place to advertise your sites. You do
promote by having your signature file. It is included at the end of
every post. Your signature file links to your site, so the more active
you are in the forum the more trust you build. This will cause people
to click on your links.

Blogging is another excellent way to promote your site. All you need to
do is set up a blog and submit to it every day. After each post or
update make sure you ping the site so that it gets submitted to blog
directories. Another great way to use blogging is to surf other blogs
that have content relevant to your site. Read different posts and
submit comments to the posts. At the end of your comments make sure
that you include a link to your site or blog this way people who read
your comments and like what you have to say they will probably visit
you site.

Finally there is article writing. This is probably my favorite way of
generating traffic. The more articles you write and submit to
directories the more traffic and back links you will build for your
site. Also article writing is a great way for you to learn about the
subject you are writing about. If you want to write about a subject and
do not know too much about it, all you have to do is a little research
before you write the article. After writing a few articles on the same
subject you start to distinguish yourself as an expert in that area.
That is a good shot to your credibility.

As you can see these 5 ways to promote your business are pretty good
but they do take some time to complete. As they say nothing really is
free. But I can tell you from experience putting the time in to do
these 5 things consistently will do wonders for your business. So what
are you waiting for? Get Busy.

Misleading Ways to Make Money Online - Personal Reflections - Part II / III

As I have written elsewhere, I never received any money for filling
of online surveys. I tried several survey sites and I made a little
paper money with many of them. But since it is below their payout
limits, I have no hope of getting anything from them.

I have also written why most of survey companies are a farce and that
one should stay away from them as much as possible. It is hard to make
money even from so called reputed companies.

Is it really possible to make money from surveys? My personal opinion
is that one should shun so called paid surveys. This is a sheer waste
of time, energy and one's hopes.

I made a little money by joining some local survey companies and focus
groups. They are not online and one has to go personally when called. I
am called a few times for participation involving 1-2 hours of my time.
The payment ranges from $40 - $100. I think I might have made about
$300 cash during the last year.

The problem with these companies is that they have many eligibility
criteria. They will ask you a series of questions only to be turned
down. Just on a few occasions one may be able to qualify. Sometimes one
of their conditions is that you should not have participated in any
survey during the last six months.

These survey companies have funny rules and I think for 50% of time, you will not qualify.

If one wants to do off line surveys and participate in local focus
groups, one may make an online search for local companies who do
physical surveys and pay cash after each participation.

One can make a little pocket money in a big city by doing one or two
surveys a month. One has to go there physically for one or two hours.
Cash is paid immediately at the end of a survey. This is better than
online surveys.

Whether off line or online, surveys are not going to generate any
worthwhile money for any one. These are just for using one's spare
time. Otherwise, there is nothing much to talk about them.

I would also urge everyone never to pay to these survey sites and never
buy any leads. Most of them are fraudulent. Survey sites offer false
promises and unnecessary hype for their own benefit. Ultimately they
are disappointing.

Paid Surveys - You Don't Need a Credit Card Or Paypal To Earn Cash

There
are many types of free paid surveys and offer websites on the internet.
Most of them do have trial offers available for you to try in exchange
for payment, which usually require a credit card of Paypal account. You
can quickly pad your wallet with these types of survey offers, but you
don't necessarily need to do these to earn decent money.

It is pretty well known that trying out services and products for a
trial period is a very good way to earn money, but it is not for
everybody. Maybe you don't have a credit card or Paypal account to
complete these kinds of survey offers, or maybe you just don't know, or
don't feel comfortable enough to do them. When you get familiar with
the different types of survey sites and what each of them offers, then,
maybe you can dive into this way of earning money from paid survey
websites, but if you are just starting out, it is a good idea to get
comfortable with the variety of free survey offers that are available
to you.

The free paid survey offers are endless when you first start out. There
are so many ways to earn here and there, but you must know which each
one is and what company they are for. Free survey offers include ones
that simply ask for your zip code, which will pay you anywhere from
fifty cents to one dollar. There are others that will ask for your
email address when completing a survey, and these also range in the
fifty cents to one dollars range. The list goes on and on and includes
everything from Insurance quotes to online magazines, which pays out
two to five dollars each time.

The truth of the matter is that these kinds of paid survey offers can
add up rather quickly. Sure, you will not earn the same amount of cash
as you would doing the trial offers, but it is a good start and will
still be well worth your time. The amount of companies that want to pay
you for your opinion will never go away. That is why you will not run
out of these types of paid survey offers. The average, legit paid
survey website has about two hundred of these types of offers on their
site at any given time. I stress the word "legit", because I hope that
you have an idea of which websites are for real and which ones are a
waste of time and possibly even a scam. If you do not know which is
which, I highly suggest that you find out this information, because it
will save you a lot of time in the long run.

The First Step to Creating Your First $1 Million: An Interview

Christopher Westra is an author of many books and the creator of the
"Holographic Creation" method of manifesting. He enjoys sharing light
and love with thousands every day through his web sites.

He received a Degree in Psychology from Brigham Young
University. He met his wife Casandra in his last Psychology class
and they graduated together and then got married shortly after.

He has studied mental and physical health for over 25 years, and
received his Doctor of Naturopathy Degree from the Clayton School of
Natural Healing.

He holds a Black Belt Degree in the Martial Art of Kyukido.

Christopher lives in Gunnison Utah with his wife and five boys.
He enjoys gardening, mountain running, reading, writing, and connecting
people with ideas through the internet.

Before becoming a full time writer and internet marketer, Christopher
worked with troubled youth, and then as a counselor in a prison.
He recently started the Perpetual Light Fund -
lightisreal.com/lightfund.html - to help budding entrepreneurs and
light workers across the world. The Light Fund gives a $100 award each
month.

Jinger: I've read your ebook, "I Create Millions". It's really an
incredible ebook with lots of solid tips on building your income and
getting rich. Would you tell us how you got the idea for this ebook?

Christopher: As you know, money is a topic people enjoy learning more
about. The articles and items I created about money achieved popularity
and I could actually track this through my website stats also. I desire
to give people what they want, so I decided to write an entire book
about creating wealth. The book contains 87 money mastery methods from
me and from other authors.

Now real wealth entails more than just money, and I desired to
encourage people to go beyond materialism to the durable riches. These
durable riches include spirit, relationships, emotions, family, and
wholeness. People think they want money but they really want peace and
loving harmony. Many of the money mastery methods help people to adopt
this increased perspective on wealth, and understand themselves better.

Of course people need concrete money management steps also, and I
provide these in the book as well. My very favorite money mastery
method is the one about "royalties" and "intellectual property". Owning
something valuable that people pay to use (money, land, houses,
ebooks), while you still retain ownership of the original capital, is
the source of much of the world's wealth.

This type of wealth just keeps flowing back to you without compulsory
means. My background is psychology makes connecting with people about
wealth so much fun, because I know what people really want. I'm just
like everybody else; we all want the same things. I've actually listed
these "wants" on my I Create Reality Site.

Jinger: Please give my readers a few tips on how to get started in business and building a million dollar income.

Christopher: Sure, the two tips I provide for all beginners are 1)
Follow what makes your heart sing and 2) Give true value and increased
life for others.

Following what makes your heart sing means doing what you love, as well
as becoming involved in projects and businesses that match your
talents, abilities, and interests. Don't just copy other people and
their "programs", but rather find your unique way to serve humanity.

My nine year old boy loves making pots and wants to become a potter. I
encourage him every way I can. If you want a successful business, then
build it around your interests. I love writing articles and books about
mind, spirit, and human potential, and I enjoy researching topics and
then presenting them to others.

Some of my boys may become internet marketers and writers, but I hope
only if they truly enjoy writing, computers, and creating web sites.

Secondly, don't focus on the million dollar income, but rather focus on
giving a million dollars worth of value. Think, "How can I give a
million dollars worth of value to others over the next few years using
my talents and interests?" People are only going to give you money if
you give them something of value in return.

The computer simply makes it easier because it's possible to connect
with thousands of people every day! The computer also allows you to set
up automated value delivery systems (such as with my downloadable
books), which you can't do when you make pots one by one.

Whatever your interests, just start! Take those first steps in boldness and confidence.

Jinger: What marketing technique do you find to be the most effective,
and how do you use it? Would you tell us one or two of your best
marketing tips?

Christopher: I've experimented with many marketing techniques and they
all work to some extent. I use viral books and tell a friend forms and
mind puzzles and split testing and lots of strategies.

The marketing technique most effective for my business is simply
building a big list of subscribers to my daily newsletter. Instead of a
customer seeing a sales page and either buying your book or not buying,
you persuade them to subscribe to a valuable newsletter.

In this way, you now can email them directly, with their permission! My
I Create Reality newsletter is actually a short daily one, and this is
too often for some people and they unsubscribe. But on the other hand,
thousands and thousands of others read my short inspirational message
every single day. I want to provide a bit of motivation and spirit in
their inbox to counteract all the negative they receive each day!

One tip on getting more subscribers is to use more than one form. I
collect subscribers from over 30 different pages on multiple sites for
my I Create Reality Newsletter. For my Internet Profits Newsletter, I
have about eight subscription forms now on separate pages.

Another tip is to use a different form on each page so you can measure
the actual numbers and percentages of people who sign up. For example,
my subscription form on my "quantum physics" article page displays a 13
percent sign up rate, whereas the form on the "invisible power" page
gets almost twice the sign ups at 25 percent!

Then you study the pages and ask "Why"? You can learn so much from this.

Jinger: What trends do you see in internet marketing? What do you see in the future of internet marketing?

Christopher: I foresee a huge increase into additional health,
alternative health, and beauty products. Alternative health will
provide great opportunities for those who can anticipate changes and
respond quickly to changes.

I'm a believer in and consumer of alternative health products and plan
to get into this field more myself with some good affiliate programs!
Consumable products allow a good internet marketer to gain continued
income from one good referral. Even my 14 year old boy pointed out to
me the value of consumable products, explaining how people will order
the same item again and again.

Another trend I see is an increasing difference between unskilled
affiliates and skilled affiliates. An unskilled affiliate merely
provides a link to a product. On the other hand, the skilled affiliate
"educates" the consumer about the product (and the benefits), and
"primes" the consumer and THEN provides a contextual link!

In order to succeed as an affiliate, you must "pre-sell" the customer
so that the desire for the product grows. One product I promote (as an
affiliate) enjoyed success from the very first try. I've sold hundreds
and hundreds of this high-priced item over the last two years, and
thought a lot about why this product enjoyed such success.

The reason is that I (unknowingly but sincerely), did a super job at
mentally preparing people to visit the other site. All I did is share
my love for the product, do some education, and give my results.

Jinger: What projects are you currently working on, and where do you plan to take your business from here?

Christopher: One fun project in development is "Make Your Day Light
Cards". These cards will contain beautiful pictures and inspirational
sayings, and can be sent electronically to your friends and family to
"Make Their Day." This project will require me to learn about databases
and dynamically generated web pages, so it's good I like to learn new
skills!

I'm also working on seven chakra meditations with images and sound,
about 60 seconds each, to help in balancing, spinning, and harmonizing
the chakras. Ideas float all over, and I have pages of ideas. Several
of my friends (other internet marketers) have sponsored Perpetual Light
Fund Awards of $100 each, and allowed me to expand that project! I
intend to build up my Light is Real site with articles and resources
until people come to that site first for their light worker studies and
needs. I also involve my older boys in projects, including income
generating projects (that excites them). They create downloadable
items, teach me graphics, and sometimes collect stats. I plan to
further involve them in the business as they are interested.

On a personal note, one project I'm working on is to move my office
upstairs. Right now I'm just in part of a big open room downstairs and
while I love the visits from my boys most of the time, sometimes it's
just too much! So we will convert a study/library into an office with a
little more privacy and I'm so excited.

Buying Orlando, Florida Properties and Real Estate with a New Home Rebate

If you're planning to build a new home in Orlando, Florida, don't
miss out on a unique benefit called the "new home rebate." Florida
buyers rebates are often left in the pockets of homebuilders because
the buyers don't understand how they work or know that the rebates even
exist. Obtaining a new home rebate is so easy that you can do it with
minimal effort and get thousands of dollars cash back for your new home
purchase. But first, you must understand what types of properties come
with this offer.

Florida New Homes

New home constructions in Florida, such as in Orlando, qualify for
the new home rebate. This means you choose the blueprints for your home
and a contracted builder builds the home from the ground up. To take
advantage of this rebate, you must go through a real estate agency as
your referring Realtor. You'll contact a Realtor that offers the new
home rebate before contacting a builder, and the Realtor will refer you
to the builder. The Realtor receives a referral commission from the
builder, and then you receive a portion of those commissions. Just make
sure the Realtor does actually offer the rebate before getting started.

Having a referring Realtor can help you in two ways. First, you'll
receive your rebate (an amount ranging from $2,000 to $30,000). Second,
you'll receive assistance from the Realtor, someone experienced in
realty, to guide you through the home building process. There are many
details you could miss if you're new to the whole thing!

Included in new home construction properties could be new homes in
golf course communities, vacant land, home sites or lots, resort
properties, luxury homes, and waterfront homes in Florida.

Preconstruction Realty

Preconstruction means you pay for the condo, town home, or
single-family home fully or partially before they are actually built.
This benefits you as the buyer and the builder. The builder is able to
secure financial stability throughout the project because he has money
up front to work with. You are able to secure your home or apartment up
front and sometimes even enjoy tremendous savings by paying in advance.
These types of properties also qualify for the new home rebate.

Florida Income Properties

If you're planning to invest in properties for income purposes in
Orlando or other cities in Florida, you can build new income properties
and qualify for the Florida buyers rebate. This gives you a steady cash
flow while preparing the homes or condos for renters to move in. Also,
you can use your new home rebate to invest in your next building
project. It's your choice.

Other properties that qualify for the new home rebate include new
second vacation homes, new retirement homes, and new executive homes.

Keep in mind that the new home rebate does not affect other buyer
incentives, discounts, specials, upgrade packages, or competitive
financing offers that the new homebuilder might offer. So, you can
enjoy your new home rebate without making any trade-offs.

Prospecting: Who Else is Tired of Tire Kickers: Tip #4

We are still in the process of deciding if our prospect is worth our
time. We continue to ask questions. This takes some practice and good
listening skills. You can, however, get the hang of it rather quickly.
One tool to use is to answer your prospect's question with another
question. For example, let's say a prospect asks you, "How much money
does your product cost?" Early in your effort to recruit you prospect,
that's not likely a question you might choose to answer. You might
respond with something like, "How important is money to you?" This is
not at all to say you are dodging a direct answer. It is, however, to
say that it's all about keeping the prospect vocalizing and your
maintaining control of the conversation. The minute you lose control
(the power), things go downhill fast. This way also helps to make the
prospect feel more at ease.

Next try asking questions that are hard to disagree with: "Would you
agree that an extra $2-3K per month would make a difference for you and
your family?" "Are you willing to get more information so that you can
make an informed decision to help change the quality of your present
life?"

Then attempt to create some sort of urgency for the prospect to act
(invite them to go to your site, sign up for a free conference call,
etc.): "Assuming this is a good opportunity for you, how soon will you
be ready to begin earning extra income?"

Questions to ask that can also elicit "yes" responses are small phrases
like, "can you," "don't they" and "aren't you." Here's an
example...most folks would like to be making more money - wouldn't
you?" "People are seeing the benefit of this (product/service) in their
lives - can you?" Words can provide emotional (left brain) responses.

Finally, seek to match your prospect's voice pitch or tone. By that I
mean things like using words you hear them use, speaking at the same
pace you hear them speaking, at the same volume you hear them use. Try
some these free tips and discover how your sign up rates will increase.

Website Hosting - How to Select a Good Company

Trying to select a hosting package is much like purchasing a new car—there are many different types and ways to go, but in the end it really boils down to how you are going to get where you want to be and the features you’ll need to get there. You certainly would not buy a Honda Civic to make an off-road journey across the Mohave Desert. Nor would it make sense to buy a Hummer to just drive around town.

So in considering the type of hosting package and company to host your website, you should first assess where you want your website to go and what you’ll need to get there.

But first, let’s understand what web hosting is exactly, and the many different features that need to be considered.

The Internet is a vast network of interconnected computer servers which house or host various pages of information, called websites. Hosting a website means to store and maintain a computer folder of various web pages. Hosting companies offer this service by providing computer hardware and software services. These services vary as much as cars do.

Some very important hosting features that should be a must for your hosting package, much like the importance of having a car with a motor and wheels, are the following:

* Security – Protection from Internet hackers.
* Space – Ability to grow my site without size constraints.
* Speed – How fast my website will load onto visitors computers.
* Up Time – Dependability of the hosting servers from crashing.
* Back Up – Protection from loss of data from my website.
* Support – 24 hours support to handle problems.
* Administrative Tools – For making changes to your site.
* Email – The number and size of email accounts.
* Hosting Company – History and track record for support.
* Search Engine Submissions – Submitting to the major search engines.

Now, let’s consider where you want your website to go and what you’ll need to get there. Some questions to ask:

* Do I want my customers to be able to look up information on my website? If so, you’ll need a database driven website with a hosting company that supports it.
* Do I want movement on my website? If so, you’ll need a web design company that can program flash for your site, as well as the ability to host the flash program.
* What type and how much email traffic will I anticipate? This helps to determine the size and amount of storage you’ll need for your hosted website.
* How many web pages will I need? This also helps to determine the size of space needed for your hosting package.
* Will I want to make ongoing custom changes to my website? If so, you’ll need a hosting company that supports ongoing custom design changes.
* Will my website have a lot of images and movement? If so, you’ll need additional space for larger web files for these functions.
* Do I want Internet Traffic to my Website? In order to receive traffic to your website, your hosting company needs to offer this service, or you’ll need to hire a third party for this service.
* Will I need Internet marketing help and consultation? In this fast-changing Internet world, it is important to have professional help and consultation.

The Better Business Bureau offers this advice:

“Choosing a Web Hosting Service for your Business Web Site. Is your business web site down again? Does it seem to have more downtime than uptime? You may want to consider changing your web hosting service. One of the most important decisions you will make for your business web site is selecting which web hosting service will display your web pages to the Internet. Choosing the right Internet Service Provider (ISP) to host your business's web site may feel like finding the right day-care center for your kids these days: Are they reliable? Will they be there next month? Do they know what they are doing? What services do they provide?"

Basically, it is important to find the right hosting company that will partner with you for all your hosting, design and consultation needs. The cheapest hosting is typically not the best route to go. It’s cheap because it is a bare bones package, with little, if any support. That is a sure way to online business failure.

Has Google Page Rank killed off SEO?

Has Google Page Rank killed of traditional SEO? Search engine optimization has traditionally been the classical way of making your website attractive to search engine spiders, and without good SEO, there was a time when your site had no chance of being highly listed in Google indices, or the index databases of any search engine for that matter.

However, I keep reading on forums and discussion boards that Page Rank is now more important, or at least the number of links back to your website from others. I personally believe this to be only partially true. That is my opinion after results I have received from my own websites, and tests I have carried out.

What Is Page Rank

First, a short résumé on what page rank is. Google has a formula based upon links to and from other web pages, both internally between page sin your own website, and externally, between your web pages and those of other websites. The more links back from other web pages to a page on your own website, the higher page you get. The more links away from pages on your website to other web pages, the lower page rank that page gets. It is therefore a balancing act.

The reason for this is that Google decided that the more web pages linking to yours, then the more relevant your page must be to the search term (keyword) concerned. Your page must be important for other pages to be linked to it. This is fine as far as that definition goes, but once webmasters understood this, they began to link with each other until, we have a situation today whereby these links are automatically created by means of software, and the content of the linked pages is irrelevant.

However, until Google tackles this problem, right now the Google formula applies irrespective of the relevance of each linking web page. More detailed information is available on the internet, including the links I provide at the end of this article if you need more information on what Page Rank really is.

Is SEO Important?

Some web pages can get listed on Google and other search engines with very little content, and only a large number of links. I have seen examples, and many forum postings on this, but whenever I investigate these sites they appear to be listed only for fairly obscure keywords that are not popularly used.

My opinion is that on-site SEO is very important, but when sites are equally optimized, then the links from other sites become relevant. There is probably a part of the search engine algorithm that includes an element of back-link density in the primary calculation, but I do not believe that onsite SEO is less important than link density.

My reasons for this belief are the results that I can get with my websites/pages with maximum onsite search engine optimization as far as I know how to do it, in relation to those web pages that I have not optimized, but added lots of links to. The optimized pages always do better that the sites with only back-links.

Page Rank Refers to Pages not Websites

Keep in mind that it is only web PAGES that Page Rank and ‘link density’ applies to, and not the whole website. Hence, if you are linked to a page on a website, the home page of which has a PR of 8, this figure ‘8’ is irrelevant to your share of the PR of the page you are linked to. Most pages have a PR of ZERO, and that is the benefit you get. Zero!

Therefore, when linking to other websites, check out the Page Rank of the page on which your link appears. That is the ranking of you receive a share. Not the home page of the site. Some webmasters will try to con you and state that “because you are linking to high PR website, the link you provide should be on your Home Page”. That is because a Home Page is normally ranked higher because it is the page that most people optimize as much as they can. It is normally the Home Page that is first listed in Google and Yahoo, and is listed the highest.

This is proof to me that SEO is not dead, and that Page Rank and links to and from other web pages is a ploy used by many who have poor content on their website. I know that good search engine optimization wins every time and that links can make the difference between sites with similar SEO and relevance to the search term used by the search engine user.

So, has Google Page Rank killed off SEO: absolutely not, and good search engine optimization on your web pages will provide you with a higher listing that if you relied purely on links. My reason for this belief is my own experience in getting rapid high listings in the major search engines when my website is correctly designed and optimized.

Web Design Projects Good Designs

Your website is where your business resides -- it's like the headquarter of an offline company. Hence, it is important to practise good design principles to make sure your site reaches out to the maximum number of visitors and sells to as many people as possible.

Make sure you have clear directions on the navigation of your website. The navigation menu should be uncluttered and concise so that visitors know how to navigate around your website without confusion.

Reduce the number of images on your website. They make your site load very slowly and more often than not they are very unnecessary. If you think any image is essential on your site, make sure you optimize them using image editing programs so that they have a minimum file size.

Keep your text paragraphs at a reasonable length. If a paragraph is too long, you should split it into seperate paragraphs so that the text blocks will not be too big. This is important because a block of text that is too large will deter visitors from reading your content.

Make sure your website complies to web standards at www.w3.org and make sure they are cross-browser compatible. If your website looks great in Internet Explorer but breaks horribly in Firefox and Opera, you will lose out on a lot of prospective visitors.

Avoid using scripting languages on your site unless it is absolutely necessary. Use scripting languages to handle or manipulate data, not to create visual effects on your website. Heavy scripts will slow down the loading time of your site and even crash some browsers. Also, scripts are not supported across all browsers, so some visitors might miss important information because of that.

Use CSS to style your page content because they save a lot of work by styling all elements on your website in one go.

Customisation Of Your Personal Or Company Website

Nowadays, in this trendy world, people get very uptight when they do not look entirely presentable. This would also be the case in web designing.

Every individual would definitely want their website to look good, if not, to the best they can. Here are a few things we could look out for when wanting to create a professional looking webpage.

Color Schemes and Themes.

When designing, always choose matching colors. An example of a matching color would be to have a dark background, with visible words and designs. With the dark theme, try not to mix too many bright colors into the design. What we should NEVER do, is to mix two very different colors, such as purple and yellow. Now, of course, it would depend on the purpose of the website, but those two colors are too striking for one who wants it to look more professional.

Themes must always suit the company or rather, the organization / etc. If the website was made to cater for a food company, it would be wise to stick to that particular category, rather than to revert to a different theme, such as machinery.

Fonts should be used in regard to the formality of the website. A simple sans-serif font would suffice in most cases. Exceptional cases such as design and art groups might want to use fanciful designs and fonts. Of course, that’s only if you know what you’re doing.

Finally, we must always try to think of our visitors, see the way they see. The resolutions and file sizes of the pictures must not be too large in terms of size. This is to allow maximum compatibility and cater our visitor’s needs.

So, planning is something we should always do, before attempting something.

Creating Your Easy Website, What Is Hyper Text Markup Language

Creating your easy website, what is hyper text markup language

Creating a website is not so much a feat, if we compare it to the education of other technical skills. Most people tend to give up and pack their bags as soon as they hear the word “programming” and “technical”. They think it`s too much of a hassle to actually learn a whole computer “language”. HTML, the most basic computer language in building websites, is actually pretty simple to understand, as long as we have the interest in learning new things.

What is HTML?

HTML is the acronym for Hyper Text Markup Language. For learning purposes, just think of it as a language that the computer understands. For example, as humans, we were taught different languages; i.e. HTML as a language, is mostly and specifically used to create a website. The web browser, such as Microsoft Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox, will then decipher and interpret the code or rather, language(HTML), and display it in a way we can understand it, just like in a basic webpage.

Coding.

Coding the HTML language might be a bit tough for some people, so we can actually purchase programmes, such as Macromedia Dreamweaver, or even Microsoft Frontpage. These programmes are solely created to help individuals in designing professional webpages/websites.

Furthermore, one could also gain access to online web-builders, website builders that are inbuilt and can be directly controlled from the net. There are many different and specific builders online.

Books and magazines contain guides that can help in offering tutorials and ways to put up our own websites. Even online tutorials are credible, as in the modern world, information technology is the best and most cost efficient way in retaining knowledge, especially in this particular field.

So, you could start and build one right away. If you enjoy coding, it might even become a favourable past-time.

How To Design A Web Page That Pays

It is relatively easy to design a web page. It is much more difficult to design a web page that works, and more importantly a web page that pays off for either you or the web visitor. But if you want to create web sites or have a home based business that you can promote online, building a web page that pays is an absolute necessity.

So, how do you design a web page that pays? First off, you need to determine who will be getting the pay-off. It could be you or the web visitor, or better yet, it could be both of you. For example, an informational web page will be valuable to a reader looking for information and valuable to you if you have affiliates, links to products, or other sites you want to promote.

When building a web page or looking for a home based business, affiliate programs are worth considering because they add value to the site for the reader and can provide enough revenue for you to keep the site going. The best affiliates offer products that are in some way related to your site. In other words, if you have an informational web site relating to pet health, it wouldn't be a good idea to have affiliate links for tax software. You will be much better served with affiliates that sell pet vitamins, pet toys, or other pet related products.

If you want to create web sites or design a web page so that you can make money from affiliate programs, it is a good idea to research affiliates and the topic before you proceed. Making sure that affiliate programs exist in conjunction with the information you want to provide or the home based business you want to promote will prove to be very valuable later on as you try to get the site off the ground.

You will also want to make sure that you will be able to provide credible information to the site's visitors. For example, you will have a hard time building a web page devoted to coaching soccer if you know little about the subject. And without credibility, you stand little chance of getting site visitors to stop by once, let alone, again and again.

Credibility will also prove to be important when you look for affiliates. Often times, your site will need to be reviewed before you are allowed to participate in the affiliate program. If you design a web page that is not up to par, you will have little chance of being approved.

In short, take your time and do your homework. That is the only way to create web sites that truly pay off for you and your visitors.

How to Optimize Your Website for Local Search

Nowadays, businesses and entrepreneurs, both big and small, know the fact that advertising at traditional media is not practical anymore. Because ad spending is considered a major operating cost in all businesses, it should be targeted in initiatives that would specifically and effectively reach the target consumers. Proper and well-visited venues and media forms should also take most of the ad efforts. Thus, because online media has been fast becoming a popular and well-utilized media, consumers are more exposed to it and so businesses swoon to follow where consumers or prospective customers are.

So you know that it is now considered a necessity to put up a Website for your business. Suppose your company has established an online page where clients could find out more about your products and services. Logically, the quest does not stop there. You have to aim for your Web site to be exposed to prospective clients or for it to tap the intended and target online users. Operating a Web site, you would soon know that the initiative is not an easy one. But to help you carry out that goal, it would help if you would optimize your Web site for local search.

On top of that concern, you should also specifically aim to target local searches. You know that the Internet is a hub that contains millions of companies' Web pages. So how could you top those searches and make sure consumers check out and easily find your site? The Answer lies in search engines. You should optimize your Web site so that it would easily and strategically be listed in search results. Targeting local listing would also be necessary if you aim to tap consumers who are within your vicinity and who would more probably be convinced and called to action to conduct business with your company. Here are several measures that you could take as you act to bolster optimization of your Web site for local search.

* Adopt a marketing program specifically for the local search engine. To do this, you have to initially determine the scope and range of penetration of ads in the market and of course the possible competition to your Web site.

* Revise several pages or rewrite contents so that the articles would be keyword rich. When the content is rich in strategic and search keywords, for sure, search engine ranking would be better and more effective. Doing so would also help maximize the placement of your Web page in numerous search engine queries.

* Do a Piggyback search engine optimization so that traffic would be redirected to your site. Article marketing would also be helpful in creating Web sites with quality back links.

* Make Web site directory submissions by sending such to as mush as 300 search engine worldwide and affiliated regional directories.

* Market and advertise your Web site through traditional and online classifieds. The Craigslist is an example of an effective online classified that would be a great help to your Web site.

Overall, make your Web site user-friendly, interesting and informative. Creating a good impression to online users would help your Web site, and your business as well, achieve well patronage and regular heavy online traffic.

Four Critical Web Design Rules

When creating a new website or redesigning an existing site, there are four critical rules which the designer should follow to make the site effective and functional - and successful.

1. Easy to Read

When building a website, the first thing you need to be sure of is that your website is easy to read. When you write content, remember that most web site visitors don't read every word of a page - in fact, they only scan pages to find what they want.

Break up Your Content

Break up your pages and use headers between major ideas so people scanning your site can find what they want quickly. Use meaningful headers between each paragraph or major idea - this helps with SEO. Headers should be created with the H1 through H4 tags for SEO. Always use good writing structure. Additionally, avoid long paragraphs that run on. You should break up any long paragraphs.

Color and Fonts

To help readability, use high contrast colors between font and background. Black text against a white background may seem stark, but it is very readable. To make a website easy on the eyes, try an off-white background and a dark gray (almost black) text color.

Things to avoid with content color:

Avoid vibrant background colors like purple or yellow. Such back colors make text difficult to read.

Avoid using an image behind your text.

Avoid using bright text colors on bright backgrounds.

Fonts Matter

One simple statement covers the font issue:

Simple fonts are the best; the more fancy the font, the harder it is to read.

Since many browsers only have the standard font set, use standard fonts. In reality, there is no ""standard"", but there are certain fonts that are installed on most browsers. These include Arial, Verdana, Tahoma and Times New Roman. Your readers will see something different than you see if you use other fonts.

Standard Compliant Browser for Development

When developing and testing your site, use a Standards compliant browser like FireFox. If you develop your site to be standards compliant, it will work in most browsers, including MS Internet Explorer (IE). It is recommended that you test your site using the latest and last browser versions of IE (IE6 and IE7). To run multiple versions of IE on the same machine, TredoSoft has a free installer that will install multiple versions of IE. It works great!

2. Simplify Navigation

The menus and links make up the navigation that the visitor uses to get from page to page in a site. Always plan a site around how people will get from page to page. A visitor to your site should be able to get to what they want within three clicks of their mouse.

Multiple navigation points makes it easy to find things. Repeat the top menu and at the bottom. Also create a left or right menu.

Using links within your text to other areas on your site. You can create links so that they are good for search engine optimization (SEO). There are generally two ways to create links within your text:

The wrong way: ""For search engine optimization techniques, click here.""

The right way: ""Good techniques for search engine optimization are important to use.""

Using link text (anchor text) that describes what the link is about is the best way. Search engine web crawlers (programs that automatically index the contents of websites) visit your site, they ""read"" links. Spiders can index descriptive links into a subject or keyword category. Spiders have nothing to work with when reading a ""click here"" until it reaches the linked page.

This is Cross Linking - use it as much as possible when it makes sense to do so when writing your content.

3. Consistent Design

At most, one or two layouts should be used in your site design. As a reader browses your site, they should be able to get used to looking in the same place for your navigation, for your sub-navigation and for your content. That's all there is to say about that.

4. Lower Page Weight is Better

Page weight is the total size of a page on your site in bytes - code, text and images. Your site's page weight makes a big difference to your viewers. Lighter page weight is better for your readers because the page will download faster. The faster a page downloads, the faster they will get to the content.

What is Means to be Light

No large images. (unless the site's purpose is to showcase images, art or photos)

Fewer images are better.

Optimize images for the web at no more than 72 dpi

Use as small an image dimension as possible for the given design.

Use a table td bgcolor attribute or a background-color style attribute for solid color backgrounds.

Make gradients horizontal or vertical (not diagonal) so that you can use a small image ""strip"" and repeat it.

How ""Heavy"" Should a Web Page be?

Certain studies show that 64K is a good maximum webpage size. 64K is a maximum, however it is still, in my opinion, really big! The smaller the page, the better. 25K is good, 15K is even better. There is a balance between design and function. It is a good idea to focus more on function.

Try putting pages on your web host server as you build your site so you can test it as you go. For pages online, you can test the page weight to be sure you are on track.

Ways to make pages lighter:

Use linked style sheets

Use DIVs instead of TABLEs where possible

Use simple repeating backgrounds for effect

Summary

Visitors to your website should be able to find what they are looking for within about three clicks. Making a site easy to read with consistent page design, and easy to navigate will make it easy to find information. You will be on the way to building a readable, effective, functional and hopefully successful website if you follow these rules.

Wordpress Themes: Selecting an Effective Theme

If you're blogging on the Wordpress platform, I'll bet my entire life savings that the first thing you ever did was try to install a new Wordpress theme. I'll bet my future earnings that even today you're still occasionally changing themes and wasting a lot of time doing minor modifications that when summed up merely distracts you from blogging itself.

It's actually easy to see why this single aspect of running a blog demands so much attention. With the correct theme, you can accommodate all the nifty little widgets and codes, and may also mean better search engine rankings and tons of fresh traffic every day.

So what are the factors you need to consider to make theme-hunting easier? Here are five important ingredients:

1) Theme Width and Columns

Typically, Wordpress themes come in 2-column or 3-column formats, with widths ranging from 500 pixels to 960 pixels wide. If you're blogging for non-profit purposes, a 2-column theme can look more compact and reader-friendly. Since you have less images of products or links to other sites to display, you can focus exclusively on the content without leading readers away from your site.

On the other hand, if you're blogging for profit, you may want to consider a 3-column Wordpress theme that will be able to accommodate your Google Adsense, Chitika and Text Link Ads codes comfortably without squeezing everything in the content area. 3-column themes allow room for expansion, but in the event that you've filled up all available space with ads, then it's time you removed the non-performers and use only the advertising services that work for that particular blog.

2) Use of Images and Icons

A theme with images and icons can look good, but it rarely increases your web traffic or subscriber base. In fact, most "A-list" bloggers have plain vanilla themes with a simple logo on top. Reducing the amount of images also means faster loading time and less stress on your servers. This vital aspect of server load become apparent only if you have tens of thousands of visitors a day, but it's worth designing for the future.

A image-laden theme also distracts readers from the content itself. This is the reason why blogs like Engadget and Tech Crunch use images intensively in the content areas to add value to a post, but the theme itself is simple and rather minimalist.

Ideally, a theme should allow you to use your own header image for stronger branding purposes, yet replace images and icons with links and text, or just not use them at all unless absolutely necessary.

3) Compatibility with Plugins

Another time-sucking activity is installing plugins that improve the functionality of your site. There's a plugin out there for almost everything you want to do with your blog, but while most of them are free and easily obtainable, it's not always easy to install the plugins and insert the codes into your Wordpress theme.

If your theme is too complicated, it may be a headache to even insert that one line of code you need to make a plugin work. This is often the case with advanced AJAX-based Wordpress themes that have too many files and heavy coding. I've always preferred a simpler themes that stick to the default Wordpress theme as much as possible, so I can cut back on the learning curve and just get on with my life.

Remember that the purpose of your blog is to deliver timely, relevant content to your readers, Any theme that preserves or improves the reader experience is good, any theme that subtracts from the experience is bad.

4) Search Engine Optimization

A lot can be said about search engine optimization, but at the end of the day if you have content worth reading eventually you'll get the rankings you deserve. That doesn't mean that you don't need SEO; all it means is that what you really need to do is to make sure:

(a) Your tags are formatted properly, with the name of the post first followed by the name of the blog - some themes can do this automatically without modification to the code or use of a plugin

(b) All your blog content titles use the H1 tag, with the main keywords used instead of non-descriptive text for better SEO relevance

(b) Your theme has clean source codes, and if possible all formatting is linked to an external CSS file which you can edit independently

5) Plug-And-Play Ease of Use

Can the theme be installed easily on an existing blog without having to move things around? Can the same theme be used and customized easily on your other blogs? These are some additional things you may want to consider when theme-shopping, especially if every minute of downtime on your blog may mean lost revenue.

While it's hard to make comparisons due to the sheer amount of free and paid themes out there, it's still a good idea to have a test blog site. Test any theme you plan on using, and make sure your test blog is also fitted with all the plugins and miscellaneous widgets used on your real blog. The last thing you want is for your readers start seeing weird error messages on your blog.

At the end of the day, a theme is just a theme. Instead of spending your time installing them, it may be wiser to outsource the task and focus more on your readers. Alternatively, you may also want to consider buying "plug-and-play" themes for a reasonable price. Dennis De' Bernardy of ProWordpress.com has probably one of the best themes around, but if you're short on cash there are certainly cheaper alternatives.
