The general mathematics behind an encryption algorithm is fairly
straightforward. At first glance, writing algorithms seems to be very
easy to do. In reality, writing secure algorithms is extremely
difficult. The details of how the algorithm is assembled play an
important role in its effectiveness.



Differential crypt analysis was first discovered in the mid-1990s as a
method for cracking symmetric Key algorithms very quickly. Early on,
the difference between algorithms that could be broken and algorithms
that were secure was how the data was broken up prior to encryption.

Everex StepNote XT5000T Review

he black on black lid (with a chrome accent strip) gives this machine a
rather generic look, and the one third silver/two thirds black keyboard
deck is not the pinnacle of ergonomics. In fact, the keyboard layout is
unacceptable for a machine this size. While the letter keys are full
sized and comfortable, some ancillary keys including oft used Enter,
Shift, and the period key are shrunken to accommodate a dedicated
number pad (that you'll probably never use). Also, the plastic chrome
mouse buttons felt cheap and were very loud.



Another cost-saver comes in the LCD panel: The 17-inch widescreen is
bright enough, but the resolution (1440 x 900 pixels) is low for this
class. Still, text in applications was crisp and legible, and DVD
playback looked fine. Since there is no high-def optical drive option
(a dual-layer multi-format DVD burner is standard), you probably won't
miss the HD screen. On the plus side, the deck-mounted speakers

Alienware Area 51 m9750 Review

Available at launch in either black or white (more
color choices will follow), the 9.5 pound m9750 uses the same chassis
as the m9700, complete with ribbed lid and glowing silver alien head.
The 17.1 inch 1920 x 1200 pixel widescreen is one of the glossier ones
we've seen and is prone to reflection in bright environments. (But who
games with the lights on, right?)



Alienware offers a Blu-ray drive option to put the gorgeous screen (and
Nvidia Purevideo HD technology) to work. The display can handle full
1080p HD resolution, and high-def movies showed visual pop and
excellent detail in shadow areas. The screen's good viewing-angle
performance makes the m9750 ideal to share (again, just watch for
reflections from lights and windows). Sound quality from the 2.1 sound
system was better than what most laptops deliver, and volume was
adequate. However, we recommend adding a set of powered speakers for

Review: Samsung R20

When it comes to notebooks, Samsung may be overshadowed by some of the
larger far east manufacturers but we've been impressed with almost all
the machines they've released of late. The Samsung R20 is another great
machine that manages to mix portability with a price that can't really
be ignored.



At £550 (inc. VAT), it offers fantastic value for money, as it
comes with the latest specification comprising an Intel Core 2 Duo
T2250, which runs at 1.73GHz.



This chip may not be the fastest in the range but it’s a
dual-core chip that packs plenty of power. It’s paired with
1024MB of memory, which really helps things tick over nicely. Overall,
we found that it handled everything we threw at it with a certain
degree of style. You can seriously multi-task on the notebook and not

Fujitsu LifeBook S2210 Review

With nearly every laptop manufacturer having abandoned standard-aspect
displays for the roomier widescreen format, it's a bit of a shock to
see a square-shaped screen these days. And yet here comes the Fujitsu
LifeBook S2210's boxy 13.3-inch display, which joins a few ThinkPads in
making a final stand for this dying breed. While that's not enough to
dismiss the S2210 outright, its fine array of components and features
don't compensate for the short battery life.



Weighing in at four pounds, the S2210 is light enough to carry all day,
and it feels like it can last a long time. Measuring 11.5 x 9.4 x 1.3
inches, it runs slightly narrower than most contemporary widescreen
thin-and-lights. When the lid is open, however, the system is nearly
two inches taller than its widescreen rivals, which will make it more
difficult to use on an airplane tray table.



The S2210's keyboard is mediocre; the keys are full-sized but felt
somewhat cramped and not as firm as we'd like. The touchpad is of
adequate size, however, and the biometric fingerprint sensor between
the mouse buttons doubles as a vertical scroll button for quickly

Review: HP Compaq nx7300

The HP NX series laptops all have very similar designs. The lid is a
dark gray with the staple HP logo in the middle, the rest of the laptop
is black. I personally like the look; it’s simple,
modern-looking, and professional. Black never goes out of style, just
ask Steve Jobs. The lid is built solidly, there is no looseness when
you open or close the lid. I can press hard on it with no ripples on
the screen.



I chose the 1280 x 800 Brightview display (glossy). Don’t buy
this laptop and expect too much from the screen, because you might be
disappointed. But if you have realistic expectations about what a
budget laptop can get you, you’ll be satisfied. Viewing angles
are satisfactory but colors warp when you’re viewing off angle by
